Former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School student, Grace Davies, has taken this year’s ‘X Factor’ by storm, writing and performing her own original songs and winning high acclaim from both judges and public alike. Grace’s musical talent was clear from the outset; she excelled at GCSE Drama and successfully performed in numerous school productions. Determined and passionate about pursuing a career in the highly-competitive music industry, at just 17 Grace wrote and released her first EP recorded at The Grand in Clitheroe. In a brave departure from the usual ‘run of the mill’ cover versions contestants usually perform in the X Factor auditions, Grace was determined to stay to true to her ‘Roots’ performing her own song of the same name for the judges in Manchester. Judge Nicole Scherzinger was reduced to tears by the raw, heart-felt emotion of Grace’s performance and Simon Cowell was visibly impressed and congratulated Grace on a ‘truly beautiful song’. Since then, Grace, a self-taught pianist who has never had formal singing lessons, has gone from strength to strength on the show. An exceptionally talented musician with clearly a very bright future ahead of her, we are very proud of all Grace has achieved so far and we wish her the very best for the rest of the competition.
You can follow Grace’s journey on ITV’s ‘X Factor Live’ each weekend.
