As the nation tunes in to Children in Need today, CRGS sixth form students continue to support local, national and international charities. At our Open Evening, the home-baked cake stall raised over £150 for local hospices whilst providing hospitality for our prospective students and their families. This week our Interfaith Society has been henna painting in celebration of Diwali and to raise funds to continue their support of a Syrian orphan. Members of the Charity Committee are collecting boxes of gifts to bring a smile to a child in need this Christmas. This week has also seen a student-organised collection for the Royal British Legion and yet another tempting bake sale for Children in Need. On Jeans for Genes Day the whole site “dressed down”, raising over £600 for important genetic research. We will also be getting into the Christmas spirit on 15th December when Christmas jumpers will be worn to raise money for Save the Children. 2016 will bring fund-raising for Barnardo’s and a range of other charities close to our students’ hearts. We are really proud of the efforts of our students who think of others when there are so many other distractions and demands on their time.
