As part of the selection process for the Lancashire Book of the Year, four of our students attended a discussion forum in the historic surroundings of The More Library at Stonyhurst College. The students also had a guided tour of the school museum and collections, including a glimpse of an original copy of Shakespeare’s First Folio.
Students from other schools in the county discussed their favourite books and Hannah Grimes (Year 7), Mohammed Ali Haider (Year 9), Ellie Whitwell (Year 9) and Madeleine Powis (Year 8) spoke eloquently and passionately about the books they have read and were an absolute credit to our school. It is also worth noting that all other students present were in Year 9. Hannah and Madeleine were the exceptions, indicating their excellent reading skills.
The next stage is for our students to shortlist the entries to their six favourite books.
