On Saturday 26th January the Clitheroe Royal Grammar School U19 Netball team represented Lancashire at the regional round of the National Schools Competition at Formby High School in Liverpool. We were drawn in a difficult group and would have to face favourites Holy Cross High School before progressing to the semi-finals. Despite this, the group stage went smoothly and we enjoyed victories of 16-5 against Range Sixth Form, 12-6 against Cockermouth Sixth Form and 6-4 against Wilmslow Sixth Form. The final group game was against Holy Cross. As we had won all of our previous games, both teams would progress through to the semi-finals whatever the score. It was a really tight match, which we won 14-12!
In the semi-final we played and beat Sedbergh Sixth Form, which saw us progress through to the regional final. Holy Cross also won their semi-final, which meant there would be a re-match. In the final we were beaten, but we were proud of the fact that we had previously beaten the overall winners. Defeat was also made easier to swallow as both teams reaching the final now progress to the National Finals later this year.
