On Saturday 13th January, four CRGS students competed in the north west heat of the national ‘Top of the Bench’ Chemistry Challenge. Libby Smith (Year 11), Mukhtar Quraishi (Year 10), Utkarsh Mishra and Kitty Davies (both Year 9) competed in a laboratory-based murder mystery practical and examination.
Our students’ performance was fantastic and the team came in 1st place for the examination and 2nd place for the practical lab session, with Kitty achieving the highest score of any female competitor across all six schools. Overall, the CRGS team came first, securing their place in the national finals in Birmingham on 3rd March.
This was the team’s first time in the competition and we are very proud of their achievement Well done.
